Each year I visit schools, libraries, bookshops and festivals, and have tutored for organisations including the Arvon Foundation, the British Council, the Writing Squads in Wales, Pop-Up Festivals and Young Cultural Creators.
Comments from children and teachers:
'She really inspired me to be an author.'
'We asked her loads of questions and she had super answers.'
'The thing about Linda Newbery that inspires me is the attitude to not give up. Even though I may get rejected at auditions, I will try and try, and give my best performance in my next one.'
'She even gave us a peek preview of her latest book.'
'I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you. I found it especially interesting thinking back to what we did during the creative writing session after reading Set in Stone and taking in your style.'
Festivals, conferences and travel: Festival appearances have included Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Oxford, Glasgow Aye Write, Man Hong Kong, the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, Bookaroo in Ahmedabad and Scrittorincitta in Italy. I have spoken at conferences for the YLG (Youth Libraries Group), the School Library Association, and the Federation of Children’s Book Groups. I love visiting other countries and have given author talks at international schools in India, Spain, France, Belgium, Scotland, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Thailand.
