FOR YOUNGER READERS
LOB
Available in paperback (top right) and hardback (below).
Stand quietly in a park, garden, or the woods one day. Listen!
Watch! If you are one of the lucky ones, you might see him …
Lob! A green man.
You have to be a special person to see Lob, that’s what Grandpa
Will says. Lucy’s parents don’t believe he exists, but
Lucy does. And she’s delighted when she finally catches sight
of the Green Man in Grandpa’s garden.
Then something awful happens, and Lucy feels that her life has
turned upside-down. Back at home in London, she wonders whether
she’ll ever see Lob again. Will he come and find her?
Lob is perfectly illustrated by Pam Smy.

“Though set in a modern world -
urban traffic, waiting lists for city allotments, etc. - there's
something timeless about this lovely story, not only in its theme,
which links us back to generations past, but also in the telling
of it: elegant, sedate, beautifully crafted, filled with a warm
kind of hope and old-fashioned charm. It's also an unashamedly poetic,
writerly sort of book, which in other hands might have weighed it
down, but not so here. There are not many writers who could have
pulled off a story like this - but Linda Newbery is one of them.
Very lovely.” - Daniel Hahn, The Ultimate Book Guide
“An exquisite novel for the more
sensitive seven to nine year-olds.” - Helen Brown,
The Telegraph
“A family classic.”
- Geraldine Brennan, The Observer
“Laced with poems, and beautifully
illustrated, this is a magical story of believing in the unknown.”
-Julia Eccleshare, The Guardian
“An utter delight … Beautifully
written, the story is perfect for young readers who need a more
fulfilling text, but aren’t ready for a fat novel.”

POSY
My first picture book!
Posy the kitten is delightfully brought to life by Catherine
Rayner, who is the latest winner of the prestigious Kate
Greenaway Medal for illustration.
Visit her website: www.catherinerayner.co.uk
“It has always been clear to me that
the best picture books are the least complicated … And so
it is with Posy. Linda Newbery’s text is inspirational …
and Catherine Rayner shows again that hers is a huge talent.”
~ Fiona Waters, Armadillo magazine
“Everything about this book says ‘quality’.
Both author and artist are award-winners and great attention has
evidently been paid to every detail of the book’s design.
The matte cream pages and cover, with elegant sepia text, probably
make it just as attractive to adults as to youngsters. However,
this picture book speaks to small children with a fundamental reassurance:
like a toddler exploring her own independence, Posy is playful,
inquisitive, sometimes bold, sometimes timid, occasionally naughty,
but always loved.” ~ Write Away website
"This delightful combination of illustrator
and wordsmith encapsulates the antics of a young cat, giving her
an endearing presence on the pages ... An undoubted hit with young
and older readers"! ~ Books for Keeps, 5-star review
